Marathon Monday: Muddog Half

The third installation of the Winter Warrior Series was on the 11th of March. For the first time, I managed to convince G to drive up and watch the race with me so I was overly excited. It was nice having the first two as a “mini-getaway” for me; but since I turned 24 on the 9th, I told him all I wanted for my birthday was him to see one of my half marathons. Thus, hungover and tired from the celebration the night before, we began our journey up to CMU Saturday evening. We arrived at O’Kelly’s Sports Bar right at the end of packet pickup. G waited in the car while I ran in to grab everything I needed. This time, for the final race of the series, we received rather nice Jerzee sweatshirt along with our Muddog pint glass. I was happy the sweatshirt ended up being nicer than I expected as well! Anyone from Michigan knows that once March comes along, it could be 25 and snowing at 6am but by …

Marathon Monday: Icecube Half

The second installation of the Winter Warrior Series was on the 18th of February. I was looking forward to it as the weekend before I completely slacked off of my training. Most of this had to do with the fact that I was supposed to go on vacation to San Antonio; but instead, Michigan ended up with 14inches of snow and I was able to cancel my flight since I couldn’t even drive safely to the airport (I was able to get a full refund #ThankYouDelta). Now that the snow was almost completely melted, it appeared to be another great weekend for a half marathon. Once again, the forecast was calling for 40 degree and sunny weather. I do not know how we got so lucky to have two amazing weather days in January/February but I was not complaining. This time, I was driving up to CMU with one goal in mind, to finally get a new PR. As we ran on the same course as last time, I knew where the water stations were and …

Marathon Monday: Blue Moon 10K

After my last half-marathon, I was itching for another race. I went to the runMichigan website to see what will be coming up in March/April. I got super distracted by all of the virtual run medals, then that’s when I saw it. In two days (aka January 31st), there was a Blue Moon 10K in honor of the Super Blood Blue Moon. The race would occur in a town only 40 minutes from my house, with a plowed and salted bike path, in the brightness of the moon. I do not know how many of you are little moon children like I am. I 100% believe in cosmic anomalies. Any time there is a Blood Moon or a Super Moon, I turn into a complete insomniac manic, thriving on 3 hours a sleep a day. Normally, I go to bed at 8:30pm and sleep for 10 hours. The idea of running a 10k in the middle of the Super Blood Blue Moon seemed like an excellent way to get my work-out in, as well as runoff …

Marathon Monday: Snowmans Half

After my first Marathon, I was so sore I had zero motivation to run (at all). Then, winter came in full force and I decided that I was only going to be a fair-weather runner. I couldn’t stand running on a treadmill and with it getting dark around 4:30pm I hardly there was hardly any time to safely run before or after work. I continued my yoga and lifting routine; but, when I finally started running again in April, I realized how out of shape I became. Coming out of the WDW Marathon, I knew I was not going to let myself go back to square one again. Thus, I already signed up for my next marathon and three half marathons before I even ran at Disney. The half marathons I signed up for were a part of the Winter Warrior series – the Snowmans, Ice Cube, and Mud-dog. Each race would use the same course and would be 4 weeks apart – one in January, February, and March. For only a registration fee of $100 dollars, I got/will get: Registered in …
